Eden Derso

When Eden Derso takes the stage, everyone is expecting Beyoncé but gets Tupac instead. At least that’s what the rapper herself says, adding how she started off not just as the youngest MC in Israel but also how she knows way more about her craft than her male counterparts. Which is true, as on her tracks, produced by MPC virtuoso DJ Mesh, she provides not just the rhymes but the hooks as well. With a musical mix that combines nineties hip-hop with contemporary beat-making elements, Derso delivers a well-polished flow, dealing with her dual Ethiopian-Israeli identity while also gender-flipping her main medium, the Hebrew language – all the while keeping the same consistency as she threatens to turn the local and international rap scene on its head.
